The Department of Physics was approved in year 2008 and then established in January 2022 as one of the science departments of Government Degree College, Rudraprayag. UG class (B.Sc. I Year) was started in the department from the academic session 2021-22. At present, two types of courses (B.Sc. Annual and B.Sc., Semester) are being run by the Department. The Department has successfully completed more than one year under many more difficulties. Its establishment in Corona period was like a golden opportunity for the students from the rural and interior background. Due to pandemic situation of Corona, many students were not able to get admission anywhere from 01-02 years, so their studies were interrupted. It was like a new ray of hope for them, to continue their studies and achieve their goals.
Vision and Mission of the Department
Establishing a good academic and professional learning environment through skill development programme and courses, which provide innovative solutions in an education that transforms students through rigorous coursework. Starting of NEP-2020 from the current academic session (2022-23) is very helpful to broaden educational areas, advance frontiers of knowledge and enhance diversity, ensuring high levels of learning for everyone, so that student can build his/her career independently in the industry, academic, research institutions and private sectors. One of the missions of department is to collaborate with other academic, professional and research institutes around the District/State to strengthen the education, skill development and research ecosystem.
Uniqueness of the Department
The Department of Physics is unique in the college because here ARIES has installed its own instrumental setup (SENSOR), which measure and record the pollution level of the Rudraprayag. CUPI SENSOR design and manufactured by Japanese company, collaborated with ARIES. Pollution level data record send monthly, to ARIES (CUPI SENSOR GROUP). According to the interest of some student, they have been assigned for sending its data and observe accuracy of the instrument. We are situated in the foothills of the heavenly beautiful Himalayan Mountains. So it is our moral duty to maintain its beauty and make it pollution free. The department has been working successfully form one year to provide the data regarding environmental protection and set the example of moral values.
We therefore, are in a position to provide a pollution level data of nature and help to make statistical data record for the greatest experts in this field, undertake together with them the research work in this field shall prove beneficial and establish landmarks not only for academics but also for the entire humanity.
