The establishment of Government Degree College, Rudraprayag in 2006 marked a significant milestone in fulfilling the aspirations of the local community for higher education. Initially focused on offering professional courses, the college has undergone substantial growth and transformation to meet the evolving needs of the youth in the region. Situated in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, India, it is proudly affiliated with Sridev Suman Uttarakhand Vishwavidyalaya, Badshahithaul Tehri Garhwal.

In 2021, the prestigious Faculty of Science was established, adding a new dimension to its academic pursuits. Furthermore, in 2022, the college introduced two new professional courses, namely B.A. Tourism and B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture, further enriching its academic offerings.

Currently, the college boasts acomprehensive enrolment of students across a diverse range of courses. It has emerged as a multidisciplinary institution with 15 departments encompassing the faculties of Science, Arts, and Professional courses such as BBA, BCA, BTS, and B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture, all available at the undergraduate level.
